At the beginning of the session, all participants registered their name and filled-up the registration book and format by individual participants. CFs and SFs helped the participants to do it. Workshop was held at the Barra Junior High School, Barra, which is situated within the sub unit area.After that mid-level WMO specialist welcomed to respective chairman, members, stakeholders, elite person and participants for day long Union level workshop. Local UP Chairman inaugurated the workshop.Then the Holly Quran and Geeta were cited and after that attended participants introduced themself with their name, address and occupation.
After registration, mid-level WMO Specialist welcomed the respective chairman, members, stakeholders, elite person and participants for day long Union level workshop.Mr. Nure Alam Siddque Rasel, Chairman presided over the function and Mr.Abul Hasem(mid-level agriculture expert) attended in inaugural session as a chief guest. Other respective experts were present in the dais and PMO officials were also present in the workshop. He requested the officials to take the proper attention to improve the agriculture and fisheries production through proper water management. He also requested to officials to do the work as soon as possible like re- excavation of the silted canals for irrigation and remove the water logged problems. Mr. Chairman inaugurated the workshop with clap of hands.In the beginning of the session the Holly Quran and Geeta were cited and after that attended participants introduced himself with their name, address and occupation.
Md. Abul Hashem, former Principal Agronomist-Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) and Agriculture Specialist of ISPMC, Faridpur who has given special thanks to attended community peoples of Nasirabad union. He has explained the main objectives of the SAIWRPMP-AF in the Southwest region of Bangladesh. He discussed the needs of WMGs & WMAs formation of the project as because without active participation & WMGs involvement, our project will not sustain or success. Hereafter Mr. Abdul Matin, Deputy Chief Extension Officer of PMO who has also given thanks to the attended peoples in this workshop. He also expressed his opinion that water board is trying to do the work timely and your active participation is needed.Project description through Power Point Presentation (PPP) MD. Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Chief Extension Officer (DCEO), SAIWRPMP-AF, BWDB presented the WMO (WMG & WMA) formation & development processes one by one through PPP.He presented the previous day workshop slides which was presented by Mr.Karim.Session was lively so participants enjoyed the session. At the end of the session, some participants shared their experience and he answered properly. Mr.Hafizur requested them to share their problems in open discussion session elaborately and you can also discuss in the monthly meeting. CFs and SFs will include your opinion to prefer your activities.
Open discussion session
After the presentation, an open discussion session was conducted to know problems on fisheries, agriculture, water logging and civil work mainly the re-excavation of canal and repair the embankment etc. This session was mainly conducted by the respective experts. Attended participants informed the following problems on fisheries, agriculture and infrastructure which was enlisted to address in SIP report.
Discussed issues on
1. Agricultural production are very low; 2.Water logging problem; 3. Lack of good quality seeds; 4. Adulterate fertilizer; 5. Lack of agricultural knowledge of crop cultivation and 6. High rate of irrigation.
1. Lack of good quality fish fry/fingerlings; 2. Water are not available in whole year; 3. Not satisfactory fish growth; 4. Not use fish feed; 5. Production rate are very low; 6. Need to Fisheries training; 7. Availability of predatory animal/fishes; 8. Low fish price etc. (There is a scope to establish "Fish sanctuary" in Khosadanga beel of Nasirabad union).
c. Civil work:
1. Baliahati Khal should be excavated in this year, its length-13.25 Km.
Md Abdul Matin, Deputy Chief Extension Officer of SAIWRPMP-AF, BWDB, Faridpur stated that we are very happy with your participation in workshop fruitfully. It is the first steps to aware the project activities because we know that Union Parisad is the prime place to delivery message in a short time. Today we have achieve our target successfully. He again gave a thanks to the community peoples to attend this workshop timely.
End of Workshop
Mr. Nure Alam Siddiqui, Chairman of Nasirabad, UP who gave them a special thanks to all participants basically BWDB & ISPMC officials those spent their valuable time in this workshop. He will extend his all kinds of cooperation to the project. Then he formed a “Foundation Committee” comprising 13 members with 3 female members and declared the name of the committee members.Lastly he closed the workshop with vote of thanks.
